Hand woven on a backstrap loom with supplementary weft brocade. Also with decorative hand embroidery, hand tied knotted hems, satin ribbon neck, and all 6 side silk side ties closures (3 to each side).Base cloth constructed from two exceptionally well matched, fine and tightly woven panels; Base cloth shows alternating 1:1 red and white stripes of commercia...l cottonBase cloth also shows side weft stripes (of pink, red, green) and metallic (gold and green or silver) threadsSide stripes are also hand embroidered with cotton (not mercerized) thread in floral (roses) motifHems (i.e. weft selvedges) were decorated during the weaving process in supplementary weft brocade using acrylic (orange, light blue, red, pink green, yellow, brown & purple) and metallic (gold & silver) threadsHand tied knotted hems ( # too numerous to count) which must have been an astonishing amount of work!Satin ribbon (light purple) neck lining attached by hand All 6 side ties closures (3 to each side) intact; knotted as worn originally; Motifs: Floral (abstract in hems & more naturalistic over side stripes)

Condition: Excellent.This item was worn (in describing piece I found 2 “knot weed” seeds caught in side tie tassels.. and left one for next ownerNo stains, holes, tears or other significant defects.
Provenance: Collected in Mexico 20 yrs ago. Was antique then.
