I've purchased this copy of White Album not long time ago and I feel very sad selling it, because just like any of us I dedicated a lot of time searching for a very early 1st press copy with all of the errors and Capitol logo on the labels. So, as I've mentioned above this copy contains al...l of the spelling errors found on sides 1, 2, and 4 that were corrected on later copies of
the LP.
These are:
1. Side One: Obladi Oblada (Should Be: Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da)
2. Side One: Bungalow Bill (Should Be: The Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill)
3. Side Two Why Don’t We Do it in the Road (Should Be: Why Don’t We Do it in the Road?)
4. Side Four: Revolution No. 1 (Should be: Revolution 1)
5. Side Four: Revolution No. 9 (Should be: Revolution 9)
6. Side Four Goodnight (Should Be: Good Night)
A seventh spelling error is found on side two. This misspelling shows “Rocky Raccoon” as “Rocky Racoon.” As far as I know that misspelling went uncorrected until the 1995 reissue of the album. Therefore, it is found on every copy with the catalog number SWBO-101.
You know that only true first pressing will have all of the errors. The first batch of the Scranton pressing was assigned the serial numbers from 1, 380, 000 to 2, 000, 000 with a leading "A" right before the number. This copy has the A1626752 serial number, confirming the issue to be the absolute first pressing. Embossed "The Beatles" gatefold cover remaining in the shrink wrap with the original breathe holes. There is a slight 0.5 inch staining at the bottom left corner of the front cover with a light tear in the shrink wrap. The shrink wrap is quite loose just like on any other White Album. At some point, I was captured by desire to take a look at the virgin gatefold interior. Carefully sliding the shrink wrap off the cover I discovered a very interesting feature inside the gatefold. I have a following theory. When, based on the design, a slick was applied to the white cardboard cover some chip of cardboard got under the slick and has been there for more than 50 years. I can be mistaken, but perhaps this chip of cardboard is a stick note (perhaps, a sticker) that were used to systemize the covers that were still not laminated by the manufacture date, batch number or order number used by the workers at the cardboard factory. In this case, this stick note or sticker has definitely something written on it. This is just my theory, but in my opinion it sounds pretty plausible. Please see the last photo. If you are interested in this feature and my theory, and you have any questions, please let me know. I then gently with the maximum caution without the slightest damage to the cover or shrinkwrap returned the shrink wrap in its place, sliding it back over the cover. The vinyl is somewhere in between Excellent Plus and Near Mint Minus, I'd say closer to NM-, because it has only a few marks and scuffs. The labels are in Near Mint condition for sure without having any scuffs or signs of wear. The album comes with an original poster in Near Mint Minus condition featuring a rights statement on the lyrics side. The second line of that statement is * © Apple Records. Four color portrait style 1st print photos, one of each Beatle, have a “Printed in USA” logo at the bottom left.
