THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN MY AUCTION! THIS AUCTION IS FOR 1960'S - 80'S CORNING WARE "BLUE CORNFLOWER"
8 CUP, 2 QT. TEAPOT
The original Corning Ware cookware featured a little blue cornflower decoration designed by the Corning staff, but this, too, was a mistake, or at least a decision made in the name of expediency. Consumer research had indicated that pe...ople preferred a wheat decoration, but evidently the cornflower design already existed and a wheat design didn’t, so in their haste to get the new cookware to market, Corning went with the Blue Cornflower, which became the trademark of Corning consumer products for the next three decades. Corning did produce a wheat design later on, but those items are quite difficult to find today. In Corning Ware, there is a huge number of items available since it was one of the three standard patterns of the 1970s & 1980s, along with Spice Of Life & Wildflower. Regular square Corning Ware shapes were made in sizes ranging from 1¾ cup Petite Pans to 5 Qt casseroles. Round Buffet Server shapes with clear sculptured lids exist in six sizes. Other pieces include baking pans, roasters, Menu-ette sets, Rangetoppers, Fast Food dishes, Grab-Its & Casser-ettes, Counter Savers, teapots, drip coffee makers, and percolators with chrome spouts, white spouts and plastic spouts. For this reason most Blue Cornflower, Spice O' Life & Wildflower pieces and parts are interchangeable.
Corning retired the Blue Cornflower pattern completely in 1988.
