WWII Admiral Chester W. Nimitz Signed Photo Japanese Surrender 1945 USS Missouri. Original Frame, sealed on the back. Frame measures 12 X 14 3/4”. Original WWII photo aboard the USS Missouri, showing Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz (Seated) signing the Japanese Surrender documents. Standing behind him are Gen. Douglas MacArthur, Adm. William F. Halsey, and Rear Admiral Forrest Sherman. It is autographed by Nimitz in the lower margin “To Russell F. Anderson- With best wishes and gre...at appreciation of your contribution to the War effort which made possible the above scene. C.W. Nimitz, Fleet Admiral, US Navy.” It shows some water damage to the back, but it doesn’t look like it got through to the photo itself. There are two light creases at the top right but theyre really only visible in the margin area. There is some light browning in the margin in the lower right where he signed it. There is a light mark on MacArthur’s pants- I did look at that closely and it doesn’t seem to be from water but I dont really know what it is. Came from a local estate- comes as seen in photos.
