Attached is a picture of a the task master's house on our farm. We were once a thriving plantation. The chimney's bricks are the same clay this canning crock is made from and fired in the same "ground hog" style kiln. Obviously the bricks are not glazed like this pottery. EXTREMELY RARE, Central Virginia Antique Primitive ca. 1820's (perhaps earlier) 1/2 Gallon Canning Crock in Pristine Condition. Ovoid Shape, Amazing Dark Charcoal Blue Gray, Golds w/ Green, etc. Exper...t craftsmanship, an early example of glazing inside and out. Throw rings are easy seen and felt inside this piece. Please see all pictures to appreciate the complexity of colors in this early antique crock. This is a museum quality historical piece. You won't see another like it, especially not in this condition. For political correctness I must state this is a slave made piece. Measures: 8 1/2" Tall x 5 1/2" WIDEST x 5 1/4" Base VERY CLEAN Not a chip, crack, scratch or nick on it. My family has owned this still working farm in central Virginia for over 240 years. We're selling some of our antiques, primitives, collectibles, etc. to help pay for long overdue repairs and renovation done to the old main house in 2017. We hope to raise enough to save the original 1740's manor house this year. ALWAYS combined and best method shipping. If I can ship for less I will refund the difference to your PayPal. I do check different carriers for the best rate. If shipping seems high PLEASE Contact me.
