For auction: The Kate Bush "LORD OF THE REEDY RIVER" 1981 EMI Studios Abbey Road 7" EP Acetate (Lacquer).
Contains UNRELEASED ALTERNATE VERSION of "Lord of the Reedy River." This unreleased version is a wholly alternate final version, and is not an unfinished "demo" or incomplete "outtake." This unreleased version is a significantly different audio recording to the version released as the B-side to the 7" single "Sat In Your Lap, " and has never been released. Th...is significantly different audio recording exists only on this one acetate (and the master 2-track analogue tape), and no digital or analogue copy of this recording has been distributed anywhere.

The single rarest Kate Bush recorded music item ever made available for sale by auction, and a priceless snapshot of a prominent artist's work-in-progress.
This lacquer was cut at the legendary, world-class recording studio, EMI Studios Abbey Road, London, by EMI's cutting engineer in 1981.
This lacquer was originally the recording session evaluation lacquer (as opposed to a production lacquer that would then be delivered to a record company to create the stampers for phonograph record pressing).
This lacquer was auditioned at the 1981 Abbey Road recording session to approve the version that was ultimately released as the B-side to the 1981 EMI single, "Sat In Your Lap."
The unreleased version was rejected, and the cutting engineer was instructed to scratch that rejected track at the recording session.
Seller has owned this disc since 1982, and will provide the Buyer a Seller's Declaration of Authenticity, declaring the direct chain of ownership of the lacquer. At all times during Seller's tenure of ownership this item has been stored in a climate-controlled bank safe deposit box. Seller is selling this lacquer because it is now time, after 36 years, for a serious and dedicated collector to own this significant piece of history, and hear this unreleased version of the song.

The condition of this item reflects that it was handled by the production personnel in 1981 in a busy, real world, working recording artist environment at a legendary, world-class studio, Abbey Road. Thus, Seller does not deem the condition of the lacquer as any negative factor: Rather, the condition of the lacquer reflects its provenance as a genuine production tool by a working recording artist. This lacquer was intentionally scratched by the production personnel at the 1981 recording session. The stains on the label reflect that it was handled frequently by multiple recording session personnel at a busy recording studio.
Lacquers are fragile recording production tools, and will deteriorate with repeated playing by phonograph needles. Thus, Seller recommends that Buyer play the record with the least weighted needle possible, and immediately make an analogue or digital copy of the playback of this lacquer. Because of the intentional scratches on Side B of the lacquer, it is likely that multiple playbacks of the lacquer will damage a phonograph needle.
