Lovely, colorful Raku pottery figurine statue of an elephant, hand made in South Africa.The art of Raku originated in Japan in the 16th Century. Now Raku Pottery or Raku Ware has become a general term for a type of ceramic technique that is globally known and practised. 
The art lends itself well to these hand made, African inspired creations of various animals. 
Each piece is removed from a kiln at 950 degrees C and placed in sawdust. Slight imperfections may ...occur as part of the glazing process. Each piece is unique and may show slight variation in coloring or design from the next. 
It has the "Hand Made in South Africa" paper label and it is numbered.Approximately 3.5" long and 2.25" high. Great vintage condition, no damage.Shipped with USPS Priority Mail
