Original Description:
Rare early document relating to the founder of Monroe, Louisiana and signed by the last Spanish governor of Louisiana, Manuel Salcedo dated 1801. Salcedo was the governor in New Orleans who signed Louisiana back to France and then ceded Jefferson in the Louisiana Purchase of 1803. These documents don’t come around often relating to the Purchase of founding of Louisiana. Filhiol had descendants who fought for the Confederacy and there is a book written about Salcedos son who served in... colonial San Antonio, Texas.
A lot going on with this document and has a cross section and overlapping of southern American history.
