IPSWICH all original to each other as you see it in the photosGOOD 5 PILLER 8 DAY MOVEMENT ticks and strikes with pressure on the great wheels POST UK 20 GBP USA AND EUROPE 85 GB...P THANX FOR LOOKINGTHANX FOR LOOKINGBiography Nathaniel Cavell is a well- recorded Suffolk maker having been born in Ipswich circa 1749 and apprenticed to the renowned maker John Page for seven years in 1763 at a fee set at £42/-/-. Following his apprenticeship Cavell opened his first shop and workshops in Tavern Street at around the same time as marrying Caroline Easton but within a short while he took over the business of John Page following the latter's death in December 1773. After a period of time Cavell advertised that he was now selling goods of his own and selling off that 'inferior' stock which he had inherited with the Page business. Although not a church goer he repaired the St. Mary le Tower church clock in 1782 and 1788. Nathaniel Cavell died in January 1789 with his widow continuing the business for a few months before selling the remaining stock at auction on Monday November 16th 1789.
