This is a cloisonne and brass scale model set of 8 Toledo Spanish galleon cocktail pirate swords for martini drinks olives or fruit and the holder.
They are patterned after the swords used on 15th century sailing war ships that were used to fight the battles on the high seas or against the English.
These swords have sharp points, much like the real ones, and guards or cuffs to protect the person wielding the sword. (Those martinis can be dangerous!) These br...ass and steel swords are made to precisely match the various types of sword guards used in that time frame.
There are 8 miniature swords and the rack to display them in. The rack and the swords are made of brass over Toledo steel.
The decorations are done in a concave cloisonne'. This involves a painstaking process of creating small compartments carved into the surface of a metal object which are filled with enamel paste and fired in a kiln. The result looks like paint, but is more jewel like and durable. You can see the cloisonne' work done on the handle, the top and bottom of the rack, and the guards on the swords. The upper part of the blades says "Toledo" done in black as well.
The sword rack holder is approximately 4 inches tall and 2 3/8 inches wide. The swords are 3 inches long.
These can be used for an evening cocktail, for buffets, brunch, or whenever you want to spear your olive or fruit.
