ANTIQUE TWIN CHAIN FUSEE COMMERCIAL MANTEL CLOCK by WEBB & MEEK, LONDON 5 pillar
ANTIQUE TWIN CHAIN FUSEE COMMERCIAL MANTEL CLOCK by WEBB & MEEK, LONDON 5 pillar ... Click images to enlarge Description Superb quality twin chain fusee commercial clock made by Webb & Meek of London at the begining of the 19thC. The clock has undergone some alteration during its life and though running strongly it is running slightly fast as the pendulum bob cannot be lowered enough due to some loss to the rod. Offered for restoration.
In my opinion the mechanism/dial are original to this case though at some stage the two securing brackets have been removed, three holes drilled in the dial and it all screwed into the front of the case. Also at that time the original bell and stand were lost in favour of a gong whilst the spring barrels have been moved slightly at some stage - this all accounts for most of the blind holes in the mechanisms backplate.
This restoration piece presented for sale by auction with NO RESERVE. Be sure to bid or prepared to miss out...
The clock weighs a hefty 7.8kg before wrapping and stands around 20" high, 7.5" deep and 12.5" wide. The dial is 9" in diameter.
Please have a good look at the pictures and message me should you require more information.
