Antique Dayak Tribal Cast Metal Alloy Shamans Serpent Ritual Healing Egg Rattle

This is an egg-shaped medicine rattle used by the Dayak Shaman to heal. I will share what was told to me when I purchased this: The shaman would determine what animal energies the patient needed to cure his ailment. The egg rattle (sometimes a few) with the appropriate animal would be chosen (in this case Serpent). The rattle would be shaken to call the animal spirit along with the use of herbs, ceremony, etc. The rattle was then placed on or near the loca...tion of the energy center of the problem. The patient would sleep with this placement until morning. I saw the 'nest' of eggs with the different animals portrayed. This is made of some type of alloy with, what sounds like, a few pebbles on the inside. Age unknown but certainly primitive.
