This is for a pristine advertising vesta case from around 1900. The vesta has a celluloid wrap advertising The Molassine Co. Ltd of 36 Mark Lane, London who sold animal feed. It has an image of a semi naked lady sat by a pig on the front and a bulls head on the reverse. It is clearly marked with the makers Whitehead & Hoag Co., Fleet Street, London and it really is in unused and undamaged condition. I have never seen one so well preserved and it comes with its original brown paper ...outer box which has obviously done its job. There is a grooved plate onthe base for striking the matches, and the lid is hinged to snap open and closed. It measures 38mm (1.5") x 68mm (2.75").
