Sterling Silver Dreidel for Hanukkah / Chanukah Designed in Yemenite Filigree Style This dreidel was made in a small workshop in Israel. Designed in old Jewish Yemen filigree* style, with a half-round body and a "skirt" around it. The Hebrew characters "Nun, Gimel, Hey, Pey" that stand for the Hebrew phrase : a great miracle happened here, "Nes Gadol Haya Po", appears on top of the dreidel's skirt. This dreidel spins very fast ! Size (Hx...D) : 1.4 x 1.2 inch / 3.5 x 3 cm weight (Approx.) : 0.32 ounce / 9 gram You are welcome to have a look at my Hanukkah Guide Click here for more nice Yemenite Filigree items * The Jewish Yemenite Filigree Art was developed by Jewish silver and gold smiths in ancient Yemen, and is related to Judaism and Judaica, being used particulary for religious holy occasions like marriage, engagemaent and more. This technique was commonly practiced in Yemen and in the art school BEZALEL located in Jerusalem - Israel (established in 1906). Today very few craftsmen are practicing this wonderful skill, most of them passed away or moved to practice a more modern line of work, therefore real handmade filigree items are fairly hard to find.
