GENERAL ROBERT E. LEE: PARTLY PRINTED WEST POINT VELLUM DOCUMENT SIGNED, "R. E. Lee, Bvt. Col. Corps. Engers., Commanding Post", one page, 7.5 x 9.5, April 11, 1854, double matted (shipped framed at extra postage cost) to an overall size of 13 x 15.5..As superintendent of West Point Lee authorizes a discharge. In Part: "Know Ye, that Adam Straley, a private...the U.S. Military Academy...Detachment Regiment of Dragoons...enlisted the eleventh day of April one thousand eight hundred... and forty-nine to serve five years, is hereby discharged from the Army of the United States in consequence of having served his full term of enlistment. Said Adam Straley was born in Baden, Germany, is twenty seven years of age...by occupation when enlisted a laborer. Given under my hand at West Point, N.Y." Boldly signed at the conclusion by Lee and countersigned by George H. Thomas (sig. light). Bold eagle at top center, most of the handwriting is very bold, including Robert E. Lee's signature, some of the printed text is a little light but readable, folding creases, a few minor stains on outer edges, and some wrinkling. #10051
