This antique Louden Junior hay trolley, made in Fairfield, Iowa, is in excellent vintage condition. There are no breaks, cracks, or welds to its cast-iron components. Everything spins, rotates, and pivots as it should. As seen in the close-up photos, the trolley patent date appears to be FEB 8 89, though it is hard to read; the patent date on the drop pulley is easier to see, and appears to be FEB 20 94. We are confident this sturdy trolley is more than 100 years old. The trolley and i...ts matching drop pulley were disassembled and cleaned. Then all parts were inspected; a light coat of drying oil was hand-rubbed into each part to accentuate and preserve its authentic rusty patina. It comes with clean 1" rope, the same kind it was originally intended to be used with. You'll be hard-pressed to ever find one like it in better shape. It rolls and displays nicely supported on a pair of common 3/4" angle iron, available at any hardware store. This was a popular hay trolley back in the late 1800s and early 1900s -- a testament to its effectiveness and durability.
