ITEM DESCRIPTIONItem DescriptionUp for your consideration is a very unique Durand art glass vase, measuring an impressive 13.5" tall and 7" wide. The vase is unsigned, and was ultimately used for a lamp by Durand, so there is a drill hole in the base. The ubderside clearly identifies this piece as made by Durand.Initial appearance may indicate a typical lamp base made by this maker, but this is clearly an experimental piece with exceptional results. The vase has a base color of the typical peacock blue, but this only appears on the shoulders and at the bottom 1/3 of the vase. The central portion has a unique blue crystalline structure, with a clear line of demarcation at the shoulder (it is not a lighting effect). The neck has strands of gold, graduating to an almost pure gold rim. The vase was hand-blown, and larger than the "mold-blown" Durand lamps.The vase is in excellent condition, free of chips, cracks, damage, or loss. There is one "line" in the crystalline finish that reveals the blue aurene underneath (as shown). This occurred during manufacture, and is not subsequent damage.
