*Up for sale here is an early 1850's iron pontiled mineral water - soda bottle, which was found in the California Gold Rush region in the 1960's. This example has a nice slightly smoky cobalt blue color to it, and is darker towards the thick base. Bottle has some issues, as the glass is pitted but very clean, ...and an old resin lip repair. The resin discolored over time. The pictures tell the best story here. The rest of the bottle has no other issues, and displays nicely as it is. Nice with the earlier tapered top. *It is embossed, as it reads ~ "DYOTTVILLE GLASS WORKS / PHILADa. / A.W. RAPP / NEW YORK". The lower embossing is crude. The base sports a deep pushed up iron pontil scar. On the back of the bottle is crudely reads ~ "MINERAL WATERS / R / THIS BOTTLE / IS / NEVER SOLD". This gold rush era bottle measures 7 3/4 inches tall, and 2 3/4 inches in diameter.
