Handsomefold-out 1950 Champlin road road map ofOklahoma, printed more than 65 years ago. The map opens to 20" x 27" and has greatdetail on old highway alignments, including U.S. Route 66, withcartography by Rand McNally.
On the reverse side there's a road map of the transcontinental United States, a listof national parks, and an ad for Champlin's Hi-V-I Motor Oil, "on the ground...or in the sky."
The map was published in 1950 by the Champlin Oil & Refining Company of... Enid, Oklahoma to promote its Presto Gasoline.
It is dated by the code number in the lowermargin: 0-463623V-9. Population data is from the 1940 census.
Condition: The mapis in very good, lightly used condition. A previous owner has made a few notes in the margin and marked a route in yellow along U.S. Routes 81 and 66. Please see the scans and feel free to ask any questions.
The Champlin brand has since vanished from the American roadside. Thecompany's retail operations were sold to America Petrofina andrebranded as Fina in the early 1980s.
