I purchased this board from the estate of a Naval doctor who travelled the world in the 1950's and 60's. I believe it to be from New Guinea because of the typewritten story that accompanies it entitled "The Story of Rechemechem". Forgive me if I'm wrong. Unfortunately I'm not an anthropologist. The story is quite faded and not completely readable and it was taped to the back of the board. The board itself is in amazing shape. The colors are bright and vivid and the marks of the carver ...are evident. The name of the owner is written in pen on the back. Length is exactly 48". Width is a bit short of 9"
