General Electric of Bridgeport, Connecticut made this sought after model L-622 catalin 'Jewel Box' or 'Treasure Chest' vintage vacuum tube radio in a beautiful translucent marbleized reddish tortoise catalin bakelite. Virtually impossible to find one of these without any damage or blemishes, this example is as fine as one exists, have NO cracks, chips, nicks, dings, deep scratches, repairs, or tube burns. The style of this radio is unique as no other catalin rad...io is designed to look like a Jewelry Box. General Electric made two models in the catalin genre, this #L-622 far more rare and desirable than their #L-570 model. The Catalin has a deep shine and gleams, rich marbleized rust tortoise hues, and very strong translucency. This beautiful pristine radio would make a great addition to any radio or Art Deco collection.
This beautiful set is in great condition with no cracks, chips, tube burns or repairs to cabinet or knobs. Butterscotch catalin knobs are original to the radio. The gold textured grill cloth and the metal dial escutcheons all in great original condition.
Radio measures approximately 9.5" wide x 6.25" high x 6" deep.Electronically it is untested as the cord is cut as shown in the pictures. Electronic restoration is available at an additional cost, by estimate.
