Great looking late 18th - early 19th century small sized blown utility bottle. American. Dip molded with nice long stretched lopsided neck. Perfect gloppy applied lip like on a similar period chestnut. Fantastic form with the best whittled crude sides. Large sharp open pontil. The color is a very dark olive green, but hard to get a decent photo because the bottle basically displays black, and is extremely hard to get backlit. The glass is nicely whittled and full of irregular bubbles. ...Fresh to the market after years in my personal collection. All that being said, there are some condition issues. Size: 6 1/2" tall. Base is about 2 1/2" x 1 7/8"
Condition: No in-use damage. There are some in-making issues, most of which are only visible under brilliant sunlight. There is a pot stone (hard to see or photo) on one large panel that has spider leg cracks wrapping around 1/2 the bottle. This is a single basically diagonal line that goes from the base to the shoulder. The only real visible exterior evidence of this is a faint horizontal line at the top of the side panel as seen just below the white dot in photo #4 . There is also a hard to see stress fracture in the neck. The visible strands seen on the neck are tiny threads of glass tailings from the applied lip. The dark areas inside the mouth are the partial remains of a period wax seal. Despite the condition issues, this is an incredibly rare and important example of an American sided bottle in this form and size, and it still displays beautifully with its original gloss. As-Is.
