For your Consideration is this {1958--D-3} Gillette Executive "Gold-Plated" Adjustable Razor, “Executive Fat Boy” for short. This Razor comes with a New Old Stock (NOS) Gillette 10-Blade “Blue Blade” Dispenser. It is Displayed in a Unique “Homemade” Display Case with Purple Crushed Velvet/Velour Lining. This Razor Displays Very Nicely and would make a Great Addition to any Gillette Razor Collection. (See Pictures)
B...ACKGROUND ON THIS RAZOR: The Executive Fat Boy razor is very similar to the Standard Fat Boy, With a Couple of Exceptions. It is plated in 22kt gold and the Knurling on the Handle and Twist-To-Open (TTO) Knob is Different--It is Horizontal as Opposed to Criss-Cross Pattern on the Standard Fat Boy. The Adjustment Dial has Nine Positions--Starts at “1” and Ends at “9” (9 Being the Most Aggressive Setting). It was made in 1958--3rd Quarter (D-3). It first appeared as D-3 in time for Christmas in 1958. (See Pictures)
DESCRIPTION AND CONDITION:
THE GILLETTE 22kt GOLD PLATED “EXECUTIVE” FAT BOY ADJUSTABLE RAZOR: This Razor is in Vintage-Used Condition. 22kt Gold Plated with a Little Plate Loss on the Head. The TTO is “Smooth” and Works as Designed/Manufactured--Opens Smoothly and Closes Completely--with the 1/4 Turn Lock. The Numbers have NO PAINT LOSS and the Adjuster Turns but with No Click --{SEE NOTE BELOW}--The Riser Works as Designed. This Razor weighs 79 grams--Very Well Balanced Razor--”Feels Good in Your Hand”. (See Pictures)
***NOTE: The “Adjuster Dial” Turns Freely--No Click At Each Number. It Turns Past the Number 1 and Past the Number 9; However, It Moves the Blade Riser Up/Down as Designed--AND--Locks into Place with the 1/4 Turn Lock. May Need a Simple Adjustment--I Do Not Know***
There is just something about shaving with a 22kt. Gold Razor that Just Seems To Make the Shave that much more LUXURIOUS.
I have taken pictures of this razor from every possible angle, Leaving Nothing to the Imagination, so you judge for yourself the Beautiful Condition of this razor. (See Pictures)
I only gave this razor a gentle warm soapy bath. I was afraid to get too aggressive--in fear of Disturbing the Beautiful Luster of the Gold Plating. It may need to be further cleaned and sterilized--by someone more knowledgeable than me--before use/display.
THE CASE: This Very Unique “Homemade” Presentation/Display Case, with Purple Crushed Velvet/Velour Lining, is in VERY GOOD CONDITION. (See Pictures)
