An early original pontiled Union Masonic A.R.S calabash flask which is McKearin GIV-42.... It was made at the A.R.Samuels glasshouse in the 1860s....UNION bold emb in oval with Square & Compass Masonic symbol and clasped hands all in a shield with 13 stars above, etc....all boldly emb on front.
Large eagle on back with banners & shield... A.R.S. boldly emb near bottom, which stands for Adam R.Samuels
Open pontil....crude applied tapered lip...aqua....round calabash ...with ribbed sides....scalloped neck....8 3/4"tall....Shiny nice but has a 3/8"crack on the banner under eagle; also a rough shallow chip on underside of lip; no other damage. A sparkling clean bottle with no haze. A great looking early pontiled Masonic calabash.
