Vintage tabletop ice bucket with tongs, made of chrome and dark purple smoked lucite. This atomic-era style design measures 8.5 inches tall when the tongs are inserted in the top. The lid - without tongs - measures around 3 inches tall and the base measures 4.25 inches tall. It’s approximately 6 inches wide. The base is almost 4 inches deep, and has some small drainage holes for the water to run into and away from the ice. The lower base may be taken apart so the water can be drained... off and the piece can be cleaned. The tongs are a shade over 4 inches long, and probably work the best on smaller ice cubes.
There is no brand marking on this piece — it came from an estate that had a number of high-quality pieces, and based upon the design, I’d date it to the 1970s or early 1980s. But what I do know for certain is that it’s total purple modernist magic. It was minimally used and is in very good condition. It would be great to have around if you’re serving spirts and you want your guests to have the option of drinking it neat or with ice. And I dare you to resist those smoky hues of amethyst purple.
