This individual serving kettle was custom made by the Griswold Manufacturing Co. circa 1940's for Al Carder's New York City catering firm. A good reference can be found on page 146 of Smith & Wafford's "THE BOOK OF GRISWOLD & WAGNER" (blue book). The inside of the cover is boldly impressed marked AL CARDER'S SERVING KETTLE 581. The pan bottom has an inset part number 580. This has Griswold's typical high quality standards. The inside cooking surface is factory poli...shed and lid rim seals nicely. Kettle bottom measures 4 1/4 inches in diameter, standing 1 7/8 inches tall. It stands 3 1/4 inches tall with the cover and weighs 1 pounds 6 ounces. When filled to the rim it has a 1 1/2 cup capacity. Condition : This is a well cared for pan in exceptional condition. There are no chips, cracks, rust or pitting and no utensil marks. The fine factory honed lines on the cooking surface are bold and with no sign of wear. Its original wire bail handle is in perfect form. It has been thoroughly cleaned of all grease, carbon and rust by electrolysis and has been baked seasoned with vegetable shortening. It displays beautifully and is ready for cooking.
