Whoever owned this jacket took excellent care of it, it really is superb.
The "Apache Unit bird of prey" p...atch cost the owner $45 all on its own so you can understand why this expensive jacket was so well cared for.
I was a bit confused with the label saying "Thruxton Aerodrome" because the RAF left there in 1946 and Tornados weren't around anywhere near then but it seems that Thruxton is where Aviation Leathercraft are based. Silly me. :)
You can buy these jackets brand new for the princely sum of £450 ( feel free to Google it ) or you can buy one just about as good for an awful lot less than half that with the added attraction that whoever wore it was Apache helicopter aircrew if the patches are to be believed and I see no reason why they shouldn't be.
Size on the label is "40 R" but I've measured it to be sure. Armpit to armpit measures 20" and length from the collar to the bottom of the hem is 25", I would suggest that if you're bigger than a 38" chest this will be too snug for you. Pilots don't tend to be big tall guys either for obvious reasons so I suggest that you measure one of your current jackets for length too.
The manufacturer's measurements and fitting advice can be found on the Aviation Leathercraft website, just google for it. The brass zip does exactly what it should do and has no missing teeth or other issues although because of its age I did find it a little stiff which will either ease with use or with the astute application of some candle wax.
I can post to anywhere in the world but you'll need to message me to get the cost before you buy. I've picked £50 out of the air for international postage but whatever the actual cost is , that is what you pay and I always find the cheapest and insured secure option.
If you have any questions, feel free to message me.
I have 100% feedback and that's not going to change but please read it, particularly the feedback on what I sell to put your mind at rest.
