DESCRIPTION
You are buying the vintage Ampex speaker as pictured. I've heard these are possibly made by JBL, but have not confirmed that. Tested with a tube amp to moderate volume, it works......BUT:
There's a tear in one spot on the surround (highlighted by red arrows). As a result that spot makes a fluttery noise at some frequencies. No material is actually missing so it could possibly be repaired?
The basket is in great overall condition. The cone is stamped 17...-0014 and appears to be original. The solder terminals were also very carefully cleaned up and are ready to go. The voice coil measures 11.1 ohms (DC Resistance), and has no discernible rub when gently pressed around the edges.
