A wonderful, magical Arts and Crafts pewter box with wooden liner. The box dates from c1900 - 1910 and is decorated around the sides of the box with mushrooms, large bug and cricket type bug on leaves. The top of the box is decorated with a gnome riding a tortoise - really great. Lift the lid and on the inside of the lid is a beautiful butterfly set with cabochon stones in peacock colour and a single cornelian. There is a little movement away from the box where the hinge is ( see photo... ) no real problem. Box measures approx. 6 ins. x 4 1/2 ins. Height 2 1/2 ins.
