A guaranteed ORIGINAL to the period Imperial German Train Battalion sword. Blade is in excellent condition, bright and shiney! Blade has triple etch, (both sides of blade and spine). The tip and entire blade look new. The blade has a blood fuller and a beautiful train battalion etch. The maker's mark on blade is W.K. & C. Blade and scabbard both have accountability #157 2. TB 11 on them so this was probably a depot piece and is matching. An ...example of this type of etch is found on page 171 of Collecting the Edged Weapons of Imperial Germany, Vol. 1 by Tom Johnson and Tom Wittmann. Grip is what is reffered to as sharkskin. Curved blade and scabbard. Triple Etch is about 15 1/2", long on both sides of the sword and the spine. The Scabbard did a fantastic job of protecting the blade and it is in new condition. The etching says RUTCHESS TRAIN BATALLION No 11. The scabbard is also marked with 2.TB 11 and #157. #235 has been crossed outso this indicates that the scabbard was re issued and stamped #157. The same markings are stamped on the under side of the sword guard, again sgowing that this entire item was re issued to another trooper. About 98% of the original gun blue finish is still present on this one ringed hanger scabbard. I am guessing this sword is from the late 1800's and could possible go into WW1.
