LOW STARTING BID FOR AN ANTIQUE PORTRAIT MINIATURE (But don't take our word for it. Do your own search here on eBay and compare.)
Here we have an early to mid 19th century hand-painted portrait miniature in a circa 1920s finely etched gold frame with green velvet matting. This sitter's identity is unknown. We have not examined this painting out of its frame, only under a loupe through the glass. The painting is watercolor. It has two stress fractures, a small o...ne at top left, and a larger one running diagonal at the bottom. It could be a candidate for restoration, or left as is, because it's still beautiful despite the damage. There is some paint loss, but the color and detail of the painting are still nice. The sitter is quite enchanting, in my opinion. She needs a loving home, where someone will take proper care of her and make sure she's around for another hundred years. This frame measures 4 3/8 inches high x 3 3/8 inches wide. The portrait is protected under slightly convex glass. It has a ring on the back for wall mounting. It also has an easel on the back, but it appears to be glued down to the frame. So, this is for wall mounting only.
