This evocative oil painting is by the French artist Marcel Catalein. Catalein was born in Montreuil sous Bois (Paris) in 1892 (where a large work by him hung in the city hall for many years). He ultimately devoted himself to marine painting especially in Brittany where he finished his days. I think this painting is set in Brittany. Catalein died in Rennes in 1979. our painting is framed in gold and has a framed size of 16.5" x 31.5". The image size i...s 14.5" x 29.5". The painting is in excellent original unlined condition. The frame is in good condition with a little wear here and there but noting notable.
