This is an antique National Cash Register glass and cast iron hinged ticket box or receipt box, originally used next to the cash register or behind the counter in a business to collect the receipts from the register. It has a functioning key, a hinged lid with a slot, and a red felt bottom lining on the inside, visible through the three glass walls. The fourth wall is iron, with ornate detailing and a large National emblem. Every detail of this piece reflects a level of care in design ...and creation that National registers and accessories are so well known for, and a beautiful testament to antique integrity in the decorative arts.
This piece would be excellent as a display case for a collectible item, as exemplified in our photo set. However the ticket box is also perfect on its own as a display piece (or as a functional piece!).
The box is in excellent antique condition with age-appropriate wear. There is some expected wear to the interior metal, as visible in the photographs. The glass is in great condition, and the hinged lid is fully functioning. The piece comes with a key, and the key and lock have been tested for functional condition.
The box stands about 6 inches tall, 7 inches wide and 7 inches deep.
