Here is one of the finest looking model 1902 presentation swords I have seen. This was presented by Culver Military Academy in Indiana company F to cadet captain Jacob P Schnellbacher. Sheath and hilt of this sword is fabulously decorated with a gilded American Eagle and Phoenix, presentation plaque and enamel and engraved Culver logos. Sheath has a maker mark, but I can’t make it out. Hilt is silver in color and guard has two snake heads, one on each end and grip has oak leaf and ac...orns engraved on each side. Blade has etched US designs and Culver and Cadets name. Blade was sold by Henderson Ames and is marked Germany. Hilt needs a little work, there is a small chip out of the bottom end of the finger grip, pictured and the ring that holds the back of the handle down on the hilt side is missing. The back of blade has a square nut which looks like a replacement. I don’t think this is too serious and not a hard fix. Condition otherwise is very good, I see no dents in the scabbard and blade is good. Wonderful sword that rarely comes up for sale, fresh out of an estate. Overall length in scabbard approx 40 1/2”.
