Diego Rivera (1886 - 1957) Mexican Muralism Modernist Artist Painting
Item History & Price
Silk canvas, framed on a padded very large frame.
Size framed 42" x 38".
Signed Diego Rivera lower left.
There is a vintage restoration label on reverse, from Manizales (Colombia).
There are some aging spots, around the canvas, mostly upper area. Some fading. Definitely vintage work.
This could be a tribute work to the artist or a sketch for one of his paintings, or an original.... someho...w it ended up in Canada.
Rivera painted these flower seller scenes in the 1940s.
A description I found from a similar painting: "Her clothes are simple yet she is colorfully and neatly like a typical young woman of Mexico in the early 20th century.
The double braids in her hair indicate that she is a young girl not yet married.
We cannot see her face because she has her back to us, facing the lilies, with her arms around the bundle."
Shipping will have to be $100 by courier due to the size and weight (to USA/Canada). Listing as described. Thanks.
