Rare CARL THIEME ca. 1920 Dresden Trembleuse Cup & Saucer GERMANY VintageAn exquisite and extremely rare Carl Thieme Dresden trembleuse (from the French verb trembler: to tremble) cup and saucer set. The handled cup fits firmly in its companion saucer, making it spill-proof and perfect for those who suffered from "the trembles."
Decorated with hand painted clusters of floral sprays that resemble the Dresden and Meissen style along with gold trim details.
Circa 1920 and of Ger...man origin.This same exact cup was featured in the "Dresden Porcelain Studios" book by Jim & Sussan Harran (page 118.).
Base of cup is faintly marked "Germany" and both base of cup and saucer are also marked with a gold crown on top of a shield/beehive. Also, this exact same Dresden cup and saucer form were regularly used by Richard Klemm, Fransziska Hirsch and Helena Wolfsohn.Approximate measurements:
Saucer 5-1/2" diameter, 1-7/8" tall to the top of the holder.
Cup 2-5/8" tall, 3-1/8" top opening diameter.
Cup and saucer together are 3-3/8" tall.Condition:
Besides the dirt marks on the bases this set is in excellent condition. No chips, cracks, scratches, repairs or crazing. Gold is fully intact.
