Up for sale is this vintage oil on board painting by the listed California artist, Frances Kerr Cook. Please excuse any glare in the photos. This charming piece depicts a California landscape of trees and a dirt road, with mountains beyond. The sight area is approximately 11 3/4 inches by 15 5/8 inches; the board is slightly larger, at about 12 inches by 16 inches. The artwork is in a dark wooden ...frame which is newer than the painting. The exterior dimensions of the frame are approximately 15 1/2 inches by 19 1/2 inches. Unpacked. this piece weighs 2 pounds 1.8 ounces. It would be a fine addition to a collection of vintage California art.
Identification
This painting is by the listed early California artist, Frances Kerr Cook. According to the artist's biographical information on AskART, she was born in Illinois in 1880. She studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and at Stanford University. Cook illustrated many children's books. AskART shows two different death dates for this artist, 1949 and 1950.
Condition
This piece looks very good overall; in my opinion, it is ready to hang and enjoy. There were a few small, scattered paint touch-ups which are not discernible in display viewing. There are some scattered, tiny dark spots to the upper right sky area. The board has a slight bow to it. The frame looks great overall. Please review the description and photos, and ask any necessary questions prior to bidding or buying.

1. Sales Tax
Before merchandise is shipped to a California address (or picked up or delivered within California), sales tax will be collected, unless the buyer provides a properly completed and valid California resale certificate form by mail (or in person, in the case of pick up or delivery). No exceptions.
2. Payments
The buyer must prepay before merchandise is released. The correct shipping address be included with payment. Contact the seller in advance of bidding or buying to find out about accepted payment methods for local pick ups or deliveries. Payments must be received within three days of the end of the listing, unless prior arrangements have been made.
3. Shipping and Handling
Good packaging is included; double-boxing is not included. Framed art will not be shipped unframed. The seller typically ships on Mondays and Thursdays, unless a holiday or special circumstance precludes it. The merchandise will be shipped on the seller's next shipping day after payment clears. The seller is not responsible for the transit time once the merchandise has been accepted by the shipping carrier.
Economy shipping within the U.S. includes delivery to a physical address via an economy shipping method of the seller's choice. At the discretion of the seller, a faster shipping method may be utilized at no additional cost to the buyer. If the buyer prefers a different shipping method other than that chosen by the seller, or if delivery is to a post office box, additional shipping and handling costs may be required. For domestic parcels, a signature will be required for delivery if the total payment is $750 or greater; at the discretion of the seller, a signature may be required for delivery if the total payment is less than $750.
If international shipping is available, this will be indicated on the "Shipping and Payments" tab. International shipping is not free for the buyer and shipping costs are not negotiable. Shipping quotes must be requested prior to all international bidding or buying. The seller will determine the international shipping method(s). Some merchandise may be too large to be shipped to certain countries. Some countries have restrictions or prohibitions on certain classes of merchandise. The seller will only use legal shipping methods. Customs forms will not be falsified.

Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding or buying. These charges are normally collected by the delivering freight (shipping) company or when the item is picked up; do not confuse them for additional shipping charges. The seller does not mark merchandise values below value or mark items as gifts. U.S. and international government regulations prohibit such behavior.

The seller makes every attempt to provide an accurate description and photos. Individual computers may display colors differently.
