This Book was published shortly after a BBC Airing (10/6/1939) of the same name during WWII. The BBC signed up the Variety Repertory Company to meet the demand of quality entertainment to replace the monotonous "interruptible" light music, organ recitals and repeated service announcements being broadcast at th...e time; and they were kept busy. In two months Maurice Denham played 225 parts in 100 shows, many targeting the enemy in skits such as 'Adolf in Blunderland'
On release of his book and it's public stab at Hitler and his policies - public demand was high and there followed four more printings in the following five months. The book contains portions never included in the BBC broadcast, which the authors noted was "wise" considering that some such content was appropriately not sanctioned by a large company like the BBC.Muller Ltd: London (December '39). Illus. by Norman Mansbridge, 10 x 7.25", Pict. boards, 60pp, includes dust jacket (in need of repair), has neat signature on end page. corners bumped, back strip chipped, and lite foxing
