The following information is taken from the information contained in the portfolio:"Quincy Tahoma depicted the time-honored legends of his people, the Navajo, with a vigor and brillia...nce which have rarely been equalled. Born on the reservation, Tuba City, Arizona, in 1921, he went to New Mexico in 1932 w he attended the United States Indian schools in Albuquerque and Santa Fe. His exceptional talent was apparent as early as the sixth grade. He was singled out by Dorothy Dunn Kramer, the guiding force of the Indian School of Santa Fe, as one of the most promising pupils and he studied under her for four years, graduating in 1940. While still in his early twenties, he was praised by the famous writer-illustrator Ernest Thompson Seton: "Tahoma has already manifested talent, genius, and power that will surely win for him one of the highest places in the world of art...his wonderful symbolism, expressed in masterful compositions, shows the best spirit of decorative art, primitive, Oriental, Greek and modern, yet wholly and strictly Indian." The early promise was abundantly fulfilled. He won numerous awards and his work was widely exhibited in the United States, as well as Canada, England, and France. He was represented in the Phiblrook Art Museum and Glicrease Foundation of Tulsa, the University of California at Berkely. In his earliest work, he signed his name "Toh o ma" but later he changed it to "Tahoma". His signature is one of the most individual to be used by an artist, and identifies unmistakeably a Tahoma painting. It is a minute silhouette of the "ending" of the story depicted in the painting and the year painted - or, as Tahoma referred to it, "Chapter Two". These have been aclaimed as superb miniatures in themselves. From 1940 until his death in 1956, except for occasional visits back to the reservation and a year of war work in California, he was a resident of Santa Fe." The five prints in the portfolio came from the collection of F.H. and Alta M. Tutt, who obtained the original paintings from Quincy Tahoma personally. They worked with the award winning Northland Press to produce these stunning prints, a testament to Tahoma's gifted talents, and superb examples of Native American Indian art at its finest.

Returns are accepted only if item does not match description. I will not accept returns if buyer changed his mind or realized that he does not need the item. Customer has to file a claim to post office if item was insured and was broken during shipping.
International Buyers: I will be happy to ship item to any country of the world. You have two shipping options: if item is less than 4 lbs in weigh: First Class International or Priority Mail. First class is less expensive but it does not come with tracking number. I will not be responsible if item will be lost in shipping if you will choose First Class option. To my European or non-domestic bidders: All VAT, customs, or similar charges are the responsibility of the buyer.
