Here we have a true, very-vintage, antique Victorian-era free-blown glass Christmas tree ornament, identified by George Johnson as being German or Czech. The sailboat is a rare deep, dark black with white detailing. The "mast" is a separate unblown glass rod embedded in a cotton-filled deep indent blown into the "boat." The "rigging" (wrapped crinkle wire) holds it all together. On this piece, it also includes a loop for hanging. Please see our store for more antique and vintage Christ...mas collectibles-- we are adding Christmas items daily, most with fixed-price, buy-it-now options, to which we're happy to entertain offers, as well as to combine shipping at actual cost.*Quantity in Lot: 1 (sold individually, not a lot)Maker/Mark/Signature: noneVintage: Victorian, early 1900sApproximate measurements: please see photos with rulersCondition: Our photographs reveal the condition best and are the most important part of the description--please zoom in on them and examine them carefully before bidding. No cracks or chips to the boat. The very tip of the "mast" may be chipped -- it is uneven but doesn't feel sharp, so we don't know for sure. The "rigging" is a little loose, but not terribly so. The "mast" leans to one side, less so when hanging. This may be an easy readjustment within the cotton for the nimble-fingered with fearless hearts. (We're too chicken to try.) Light surface wear as shown in photos. Scrap riders were often attached to these, and if this one had any, they are gone.Non-smoking environment, and we'll let you know if any of our vintage items smell like it (or anything else) from activities they may have been involved in before we found them.*If you are purchasing more than one item from us, please do NOT pay the invoice that eBay automatically sends out at the end of each listing because we can combine shipping at a much lower rate for you ONLY if you pay for all of your items at once. Please email us for a combined shipping invoice when you are done shopping and wait to pay from that invoice. We expect payment within 1 day of end of auction/listing unless you are bidding on items that haven't completed yet. Please email us to let us know if that is what you are doing. We don't accept returns but we will grant you the use of our description and photos so that you can re-ebay the item yourself.
