An early and scarce soda fountain or drug store advertising tin litho serving tray. This tray is advertising College Ices Served With C&M Crushed Fruits. This large tin litho oval tray measures 16-1/2" x 13-1/2". Very good condition as shown with great colors and graphics. Has some very light scattered non detracting surface wear mostly along the outer rim area. College Ices were a soda fountain concoction that dates back to 1889. The College Ice was a dish made with ice cream, syr...ups and crushed fruit. College Ices can be traced back to the late 19th century in Worcester Massachusetts where they were a favorite of young women from Smith College in Worcester. The College Ice is widely believed to have been created by a Soda Fountain worker named Tim Brosnan at Easton's Soda Fountain in Worcester MA. A very nice early Ice Cream/Soda Fountain related advertising tray for your collection. Very early and scarce tin litho tray dates to around 1900.
