Overview: This is a stunning 1940s Vintage Original Impressionist Oil Painting on Canvas Panel by Listed Canadian artist, Cecile Chabot (1907-1990). It is done in a cla...ssic French Impressionist style and calls to mind some of the best artists of that style. Chabot used thick paint and short brushstrokes to create this very serene and captivating work. It has lovely green and blue hues and a nice texture. It is signed in the lower right and dated 1944. It is set in a very nice hand-carved gold-leafed vintage frame. It looks absolutely wonderful.

About the Artist: Poet, painter, storyteller and writer Cécile Chabot was born in l'Annonciation (Deux-Montagnes), Quebec, in 1907. She studied at the École des arts et métiers and then at the École des beaux-arts de Montréal, from 1933 to 1938. As an artist, she illustrated her own collections of poetry and stories such as: Légende mystique (1942), Paysannerie: conte des rois (1944), Imagerie: contes de Noël (1944) and Le Cheval vert (1961). While creating and publishing her illustrated books, she lectured, contributed to a range of journals and wrote numerous radio and television scripts for Radio-Canada (1942-1946). She was awarded the Royal Society of Canada bronze medal for Féerie in 1964. (Source: AskArt)
