26" Chrome Prewar Drop Center 36 Hole Rims and Spokes for Vintage Schwinn Bicycles and Others ( Option Choices )This auction is for your choice of 26" Chrome 36 hole Drop Center Rims and Spoke Combos from the pull down menu. Your Choice of" ( 2 Rims, 2 Rims & 72x 269mm Spokes, and 72x 269mm Spokes ) The Chrome Drop Center Rim was the Rim used on most all Deluxe Prewar Bikes including Schwinn, CWC, Hawthorne, Shelby, Dayton Huffman, Columbia, Colson, and Roadmaster. These Rims were ...also used on Postwar Murray and Sears JC Higgins and Spaceliner bikes. The 269mm Double Butted spokes is the Proper Spoke for Lacing Vintage Wheels. Rims are in Great Shape previously laced to some high end Restored bikes, ( take offs ). There are used but most likely saw no road use. They are used in great shape, straight, may have tiny scratches same as shelf wear, and may have the slightest tad of rust on the inside. Rims are Nice and actually too nice, I suspect these are reproductions but they may be NOS. ( I have restored a life time of wheels, and if they are reproductions rims they are dead on, and one could not discern the difference on a bike, the only give away is the clean insides ) These rims are Prewar Ballooner for 26" x 2.125" tires although the same rim is used postwar with 26" x 1.75" tires. Both tire sizes work with these rims.The Spokes are High Quality New 269mm Stainless Steel Double Butted 14-15 gauge Spokes with chrome plated brass nipples. These spokes work well with Most Vintage Ballooner Front ( Like Schwinn & New Departure) and Rear Coaster Brake hubs (Like New Departure, Morrow, and Musselman Hubs) with a cross 4 pattern to most Vintage 26" x 1.75 and 26"x 2.125" Rims. The 269mm size is also referred to as 10 5/8" in vintage terms and is the main Size for 26" wheels Used on Prewar Drop-centers and Schwinn S-2 wheels in a Cross 4 pattern. Very commonly used size, but Please Do your home work to be sure.
