Born in 1927, in Leninakan (Gyumry), Armenia, Alexander was one of the most celebrated artists of his culture and era. He was a dedicated student at the Yerevan Art Institute and became a devoted follower of the worldwide artist-painter Martiros Saryan. He became famous after his successful participation in the exhibition "Five Artists of Armenia" (Alexander Grigoryan, A. Kapantsyan, L. Bajbeuk-Melikyan, H. Siravyan, A. Minas).
During his career, his amazing work of art was displayed in various joint and personal exhibitons around the world from Armenia, Moscow, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Netherlands, Lebanon, Germany, France, Canada and beyond. He was also famous with his portraits- he drew almost all famous Armenians' portraits at that period.
