This is a very delicate Southern Indus Valley terracotta hand painted storage vessel/jar. It is circa 2500 BC. It has excellent hand painted geometric designs on the upper part of the jar. It sits on a small 1 1/2" flat foot which flares to a shoulder that is 3 1/2" in diameter and then curves inward to a rim that is 1 7/8" in diameter. It is 2" tall.The design section starts at the shoulder with two lines, with the center portion covered by geometric wor...k and it closes by two lime near the rim. It has a tan slip with all design work in brown.The jar is 100% intact. It has a hairline crack on its foot and very small chip on its rim It is sold as found.Purchased from Artemission in London in 2003 and has a COA from them.
