The drawing, executed in charcoal on early 19th century paper, shows a study of a young male in a standing pose. We think the artist depicted the biblical David, attacking Goliath.
Authorship : the drawing is from the French Neoclassical School, signed bottom mid (we read "Poisat Emile").
P...eriod : the drawing is dated (mid below) "fecit 8bre 1839" (for October).
Size : 56, 5x46, 9cm.
Condition : Fairly good. Some scattered dirt throughout. Left side under mid : one small secured tear. Bottom corner right secured. Bottom corner left : tiny fragment of paper missing. Corners left, zone right side mid : smpots, due to damp. Mid horizontal, corners right : traces of folding. Unframed.
