This is a luxurious & tough American Ghurka bag in vintage chestnut leather. It is “Ghurka Special Leather”, the best and the most expensive leather Ghurka has ever made: Tanned in an organic “tea” of mimosa and Quebracho tree barks, a fantastic choice for making any long-lasting luxury travel bag! This Ghurka duffel bag was first made during Marley Hodgson era back in 1990/91 and as one of the most popular Ghurka bags, is still in production in 2019!
“Fold-end design opens to allow extra room and ease in packing. Ends secure with brass shackles; includes a detachable, adjustable leather shoulder strap. The shoulder strap has leather shoulder pad and is adjustable; Lined in signature check canvas fabric; duffel meets most airline industry standards as a carry-on.
Sturdy, handsome, and roomy best describe the Cavalier I. It makes a great overnight - weekend bag and carry-on. 18" long (fastened)"

Founded in Connecticut in 1975 by the luxury belt and brace designer Marley Hodgson, Ghurka has served as a symbol of superior American leather craftsmanship for over thirty years.
The origins of the Ghurka brand can be traced back to a fortuitous discovery at a British auction house in the early 1970s. Hodgson inspired by his love of history and leather craft, bid on campaign travel gear and leather boots formerly owned by a British Ghurka officer stationed in India at the turn of the 20th century. He was so impressed by the quality of the nearly century-old leather – durable, yet supple in spite of its age – and by the intricate craftsmanship, that he was compelled to launch a line of comparable leather accessories. Hodgson tracked down the lost tanning formula for these boots, and for other accouterment carried by the legendary Ghurka regiments, and applied the manufacturing process to his new collection “.
