Classic Vintage USAF Vietnam Era Thailand Udorn Jungle, Boonie, Or Bush Hat

Offered for your consideration is a very nice USAF Vietnam era Udorn Thailand bush or jungle hat. Udorn Royal Thai Air Force Base was established in the 1950's and the U.S. began covertly flying missions from there in 1961, although the CIA began using the base in late summer of 1955. From 1964-1976 Udorn was a front-line base for the USAF. During this time the base support a tactical recon wing, tactical recon squadrons, fighter squadrons, and special operations squadrons. RF-101 Vood...oos, F4 Phantams, F-104 Starships, AC-47 Spooky gunships, and C-130 Hercules flew missions from this base, as did other various aircraft. I've also seen this style referred to as "Vietnam Advisor Hats" with the red lining described as having been designed for high visibility, possibly to signal low-flying aircraft. The hat is marked with "8" on the inside, which I assume is the size.
The hat shows no obvious signs of wear and remains in excellent condition with a great look all the way around. It has not been cleaned or altered and remains completely original. This is an original period hat and NOT a modern reproduction or knock-off.
This is a classic Vietnam era hat and it was nicely made. The hat does not appear to have been worn very much, if it was worn at all. The wide brim remains rigid all the way around and the hat retains it's correct shape with no deformities or crushing. Both sides have sturdy steel snaps and they're free of any corrosion, pitting, or discoloration, remaining very bright. Both sides snap securely closed. The chin strap/cord and clear vinyl tube slider are original and show no obvious wear. There are two screened mesh grommet ventilation holes on each side. There are two pencil tip sized holes in one cover on the side with the Udorn patch as shown. The surfaces are free of any stains, bleaching, fade, or discoloration with no soiling. The inside is covered with a bright red lining and it also has a bright red headband. These remain completely intact and free of any stains, discoloration, or soiling with no obvious wear. The hat is completely free of any mildew or any other kind of environmental damage. There are no cuts, tears, punctures, or fraying of material.
