Note: I am trying to make this auction quit re- listing but it seems eBay has removed this capability unless you have bought a special sellers status. ****I am leaving the country oct 28 ******so if I don’t have a winning bid a few days before then I will not be able to complete the transaction. I’m sorry, I don’t know what to do. It was supposed to be a 7 day auction but it continues to relist and looks like it still be in auction after I’ve gone. Therefore I may have to bump... the price way up to discourage bidders, or simply not be able to ship it. ******So please just don’t bid if it automatically relists past oct 26 at 11:00 am*****thanks for your understanding and I hope I don’t get any neggs over this episode!!
Vintage 1937 Gibson L-10 archtop guitar with original HSC. Condition is Used.  This amazing relic from the past is a thing of beauty to behold.  Made in 1937, it is the from Advanced series with a 24 3/4" scale, X bracing, 17" lower bout, and a comfortable C profile neck.  The advanced series was one of the first of the Gibson guitars to have a truss rod, which gives the guitar a fast neck with excellent playability instead of the chunky or V style necks of the past. It has recently replaced Grover sta-tite open back butter-bean tuning machines. It is made of figured maple back and sides, mahogany neck, and spruce top, all carved and book matched and a very dark rosewood fingerboard almost like ebony.].  The sunburst nitrocellulose finish is beautiful age checked and in excellent condition for its age.  It has been a favorite playing guitar for many years, and it has had the heck played out of it with many dings and scratches to prove it.  You will find out why if you are ever so lucky to have this one in your hands.  When I got it, the frets and finger board was pretty much worn out.  Barry Daniels, a premier luthier from The Woodlands Texas, well known for his expert neck work, planed the divots out of the finger board, replaced broken inlays, and refretted with medium jumbo frets.  Also, he crafted an exact replica of the old nitrocellulose pick guard which had begun to return to the elements from which it came.  The new pickguard has a hand made pre-amp fixed to the underside wired into a Fishman pickup made as a part of the rosewood adjustable bridge.  This reproduces the woody rich sound of the guitar, especially the incredible mid tones produced by the x-braced carved spruce top.  It's a players guitar.  I had all this work done for myself, and it is done right. I moved the strap pin from the back of the neck to the top, next to the base of the fingerboard for better stability.  Now I have retired and I'm going to Mexico, and I am leaving the past behind, selling my guitar collection since I can't take it with me.  It has the original "California Girl" case with red plush lining also in excellent but aged condition.  This guitar is slightly heavier than some of the later Gibson archtops, possibly due to the x-braced top. and that's what gives it such a well balanced tone.  I find the lighter Gibson cutaway archtops of the '60's to have more treble response, just not as as pleasant to my ear.  Here are some excerpts from archtop.com regarding this model:"The Gibson L-10 is the firm's rarest prewar archtop, built in very limited numbers for a little over a decade. Though examples have been dated as early as 1928, the L-10 did not appear in Gibson's catalog until 1931, and was the first and only alternative to the L-5 for some years.  Upsized to an X-braced 17" body in 1935, the 'Advanced Model' L-10 was distinguished with ornamentation utterly unique in the Gibson line. With its distinctive split-arrow fingerboard inlay, checkerboard body binding, three-tone cherry sunburst, and natural finish one-piece mahogany neck, the L-10 was also fitted with gleaming all-chrome hardware, unseen on other Gibsons until the mid-60's. While the later L-7 and L-12 models survived well into the prewar era, the Advanced L-10 was discontinued by 1939 after a scant four years of production. The neck on this rare bird is noteworthy in itself: its generous 1 3/4" nut is unusual for 17" Gibsons, and its comfy 7" fretboard radius is similar in feel to an early '50s Tele. The neck has a solid, gentle C profile, neither clubby nor veed, with smooth low action. Both neck angle and bridge height are excellent, and the voice has the depth and sustain the X-braced body is renowned for, with wonderful clarity and detail.  A special plus is the original plush lined striped tweed 'aircraft cloth' case, the most coveted of Gibson's prewar hardshells."*******The eBay worldwide shipping choices are very limited and I had to choose what was available on their menus. To clarify about international shipping, I will ship to Tokyo Japan for $800.00US. If I have to use eBay’s shipping label, they allow only UPS international shipping. If I have my choice I will use DSL. The buyer will be responsible for duties and fees charged by their government in customs.
