A beautiful early 1960 Rolex Explorer 5701 in solid yellow gold and stainless steel with wonderful original factory printed champagne dial, big 35mm case and high grade caliber 1530 movement just serviced and keeping excellent time, ready to wear straight out of the (gift?) box! What a wonderful piece of Rolex history, this watch screams 1960's style and has survived in such beautiful all original condition because it is made to the highest standards of craftsmanship that continue to make Rolex ...the most famous watch manufacture in the world to this day. This superb example of the Explorer series features a perfect sized case at 35mm in diameter excluding the original signed crown and comes on a perfectly matched aftermarket Rolex signed genuine leather strap with gold plated buckle. Between the lugs at 12:00 is stamped with the model number 5701 and at 6:00 the serial number in the 500 thousands dating it to approximately 1959. The crown does screw down to the case but is getting a little old and worn. The watch though has passed a water proof pressure test during servicing. The case has not been polished and shows normal surface wear for its age with a nice crisp fluted bezel. Inside the back is also signed Rolex Montre SA, Geneva Switzerland Patented, 5700 (correct) and 1.60 or first quarter of 1960. The dial is also superb with a very lightly patinaed background giving it that perfectly aged look with applied coronet at 12 as well as (rare) applied Rolex just below that. Then signed Oyster Perpetual, Explorer-Date, Precision, Swiss. Cool arrow style markers with matching hands and date aperture at 3:00 (non-quickset). Inside we find the famous calibre 1530 automatic movement in superb working condition, just serviced last month. The plates show a bit of brassing, but this does not at all affect the working of the watch. The movement is also fully signed Rolex, Geneva, 25 Fine Rubis, Swiss, 1530. A truly beautiful vintage Rolex from the origins of the Explorer series in superb all original condition ready to wear! Don't miss it!!!

I am still accepting payments through Paypal, but because of a recent policy change on their behalf I have to protect myself from fraudulent buyers returning items for unwarranted reasons. The new policy is that Paypal is no longer refunding the Paypal fees taken from the buyers payment, in the event of a return. Basically, if a return is requested by a buyer, those fees are kept by Paypal and are no longer available to me to refund! Please contact me first by message if you are unhappy with your item and I will do my best to resolve it. If you feel your item is not as described and we mutually agree the return is for a warranted reason (such as damage in shipping), I will cover that extra cost, but if there is a dispute launched through ebay (the return is not mutually agreed) and the refund is forced upon the safe return of the item, the Paypal fees originally paid will not be refunded to the buyer (about 3-4% of the total payment).
